Sitar Rose

Documentary filmmaker             Openhand Productions

Stories of the World, Sounds Global National Museum of Scotland

Sitar worked closely with NMS staff to agree a script, interview questions and appropriate approach to each interviewee.  It became quickly apparent that Sitar had a natural ease of style, lively interest in each subject being interviewed and a highly skilled approach to managing and directing people Sitar is also able to persuade and coax from interviewees interesting new angles that emerge through dialogue. I was extremely impressed with Sitar’s high quality film and sound recording, her meticulous attention to detail, her interpersonal skills in dealing with interviews and her generosity – and patience –

Christine McLean, Community Engagement Manager,National Museums Scotland

As Interactive Displays Manager at National Museums Scotland I engaged Sitar to work on a film documenting the commissioning of a prayer wheel house for the new galleries. I found her to be easy to work with and an extremely good filmmaker. I was very impressed with the finished result and went on to commission her to produce an edited piece from existing footage of four different indigenous peoples for the same gallery.

As Project Manager for the InMotion exhibition at the Edinburgh International Science Festival, I commissioned Sitar to work on a film bringing together Scottish Ballet and some motion-capture science. I have found Sitar extremely good to work with; she is very good with people and creates a positive and calm creative environment which results in the best quality film. I would highly recommend her for work which involves sensitivity, engaging with large numbers of participants and requires highly professional results.
